Type of Work: Equine Vet Surgeon

Job Details: Our Client are looking for a dedicated and experienced equine vet to join their team, due to their long term team member leaving to complete a surgical residency (the second vet at this practice of the year to have been offered a residency!)

They are an independent equine clinic situated on the Shropshire borders, and have been established for six years. They have a variety of patients from high level sports horses to companion ponies and donkeys.

The role consists of all of the normal routine equine work, with facilities to work up cases at the clinic. If you prefer being out on the road, cases can be sent into to the clinic for care to be continued.

They have great kit, lovely cars (automatic Mitsubishi Outlanders with Go Stow storage systems) and a purpose built clinic which includes stables, treatment rooms and a theatre as well as a variety of surfaces for lameness. Their surgical cases are mainly orthopaedic and they carry out a large number of these in particular over the winter months.

Someone with an interest and experience in anaesthesia and medicine would be advantageous or a dedicated Stud Vet.

There is the opportunity to do a certificate if you wish, which will be supported. They also encourage you to develop your own clinical interests and help build on this side of the clinic.

If you like teaching, they have a regular number of EMS students visiting. There is as much support available as you would like, from their advanced practitioner and cases are regularly discussed with a team approach, as well as in house CPD and regular clinical meetings.

The out of hours is generally quiet, and their equine nurse or senior vet answers and triages the calls so you don't have to

They are really hoping to find someone who wants to stay long term and build solid relationships with their clients, provide excellent clinical care and most importantly become an Important part of their small ambitious team.

They are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, ambition and a desire to help continue to grow and develop their services and provide exceptional patient care

Our Client can support overseas applicants, and accommodation can be arranged if required. Applicants must be RCVS registered or prepared to take the required examinations as early as possible

There is a substantial salary available (to be discussed) and excellent long term prospects.
