Type of Work: Farm Animal Vet Surgeon - experience essential

Job Details: This is a very rewarding opportunity working with a large team of vets in a mixed practice setting, with a large and small animal vet team.

The team consists of 11 vets - 3 Large animal vets, 2 mixed vets and 6 small animal vets. This practice is creating another opportunity in their team - this job is not to replace anyone, they are simply seeking another farm animal vet to add to their team due to the busy caseload.

They are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic large animal vet to join their team with an option to do some small animal work if you prefer. They have a supportive and friendly team with great clients in an independently run progressive multibranch practice. There is a good equally shared on call rota. This practice can offer you a unique veterinary experience based in the heart of Cork. You will have the benefits of city life whilst only being a stone’s throw away from the sea or the mountains.

The large animal team have decades of experience and regularly discuss individual case presentations and herd problems amongst each other to help them give the best possible service to their clients. They continually update treatment methods in line with new developments in veterinary science as they occur. Their clinicians and nurses engage in Continuing Veterinary Education on a regular, structured basis and many of their vet professionals have extra, internationally recognised qualifications.

The majority of the large animal work would involve dairy with a small number of beef and sheep herds. There is minimal equine work and some TB testing.

The rota is 1 in 5 but will be 1 in 6 on new hire. In Spring this will increase to 1 in 3 as there are always 2 vets on call. Outside of Spring, you get a day off the following week after working a weekend on call. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced vet to work with a team of like-minded vets.
