Salary: £32,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
Package: Vehicle Available, VDS cover, £1000 CPD budget (no real set budget, as long as it is relevant to the practice), 20 days holidays plus bank holidays, mobile phone for business use and a 6 month review

Job Details: This 13 vet practice are seeking 2 mixed veterinary surgeons to join their independently owned, R.C.V.S. accredited practice in rural North Yorkshire (75% farm, 5% equine, 20% small). Working hours 8.30am - 6pm and there are 12 vets on the duty rota which is evenly shared. Large Animal Vet Surgeons are welcome to apply but must be able to hold their own on small OOH. An interest in dairy would be advantageous.
Located in the middle of some very nice countryside, just a 20 minute drive North of York, your role can be tailored to an extent to support your area of enthusiasm. You are required to be living within 20 minutes of the practice to facilitate OOH work - lots of fantastic local accommodation available and support will be provided to help you source your accommodation.
Good core of routine fertility & dairy work and many active beef and sheep clients. Frequent farm client meetings and aim to engage with their clients in order to improve herd/flock health and production. This practice have a diploma holder in bovine reproduction, a New Zealand/Australia dairy specialist, an RCVS advanced practitioner in small animal medicine and two vets working towards certificates in sheep and cattle health and production. Would welcome someone with enthusiasm for herd health and production medicine, and actively encourage CPD in your chosen area.
They have recently built a brand-new surgery, with excellent small animal facilities (2 vet and one nurse consulting rooms, separate large operating theatre, large prep room, separate room for radiography and ultrasound scanning, isolation room, separate cat & dog kennels). Equipment includes in-house biochemistry, critical care analyser, endoscopes, digital radiography, (both also used for horse work), ECG, dental radiography and ultrasonography.
The horse work is all ambulatory, mainly hunters and hacks, as the area is well supplied with specialist horse practices. Horse work includes standing castrations, vaccinations, lameness work ups, ill horses, and microchips.
On call rota involves the following:
- 1 night in 6 first on call
- 1 night in 6 second on call
- 1 weekend in 12 first on call
- 1 weekend in 12 second on call
- 1 Saturday morning in 12 9am - 1pm
- 3 full days off over the 12 weeks
There is also a nurse on duty out of hours which allows for good support in the emergency situation.
