Salary: Competitive DOE

Type of Work:  1-2 experienced Mixed animal Vet Surgeons, Permanent, Full-time (There are a number of small animal clients around 75%, and rest large animal and equine 25%. Mostly beef farms 50-100 head, a very large sheep farm (1000's+), several  recreational horses and some horse breeders too, also a fair few hobby farm type animals such as alpacas, goats and pigs!)

Want to open your own veterinary clinic in Central British Columbia, Canada?

The local community are on a mission to recruit veterinarian professionals who will become part of their community and work with them to ensure that the animals in Wells Gray Country continue to be healthy and well-cared for.

*There is no actual practice yet, the previous vet worked out of a mobile practice but several rentals, purchase options and realtors are in the area to help you undertake your own or keep it mobile! Also there is reasonable potential for the town to help in establishing a facility and support staff. The town community is 100% supportive of a new vet or two, to the area and will both welcome and assist in any way they can.

You can pick your own hours but you will likely have to do OOH. (So having two vets to Share the workload would be ideal.)

Without a local vet, animal owners must travel well over one hour to a nearby clinic. In the case of an emergency, at times, this would be too late.

There are over 1000 Clients and more available for the ideal person/s! In fact 90% of all households have more than one animal! This role would suit a couple of more experienced Mixed vets, who are looking to take on the veterinary care for the surrounding community and their animals. 75% Small animal, 25% Large animal/Equine

Great for recreational pursuits, being close to a large pristine provincial park, famous for its many waterfalls. There is hiking, kayaking, fishing, bicycle trails, skiing (downhill and cross-country), all locally, and the area is nicely placed only hours away from many other interesting and exciting places. The community is fairly young, diverse, and supportive, and has all essential services, and schooling through all grades.

Types of services required:

Routine neutering and medicine in s/a. Pregnancy testing cattle and horse, horse castrations and dentals, sheep flock advice,  routine calls. Any major ops including spays are referred onto local vets in Kamloops  (1hr 20mins away). There are two equine rescue centres and a cat and dog rescue centre to service too.
