Job Details: Our client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon. Your day to day duties will involve a mix of consultations and surgery days, requiring some sole charge work. The successful candidate will be responsible for the workup and care of patients that they see and admit into the practice. They have a friendly team of 14 Veterinary Surgeons, 14 Nurses, an Orthopaedic AVP and 4 certificate holders (medicine, surgery and cardiology) with others currently working towards ophthalmology and ECC certificates. They encourage their staff to work towards certificates and support individual interests.

The position is ideally full-time although part-time will be considered, working 4 days a week with a set day off. An average day is 8.30 am-6.30 pm with one late night every 2.5 weeks. On these days the phones go across to an OOH provider at 8 pm but the duty vet is expected to provide inpatient checks until 10 pm. The Saturday/weekend rota is shared between 10 vets and involves three shift patterns 1:10 full weekends (Saturdays 8.30 am – 3 pm; Sunday 9 am – 12 pm) 1:10 Saturdays (9 am – 3 pm); 1:10 Saturdays (9 am -12 pm.)

The successful applicant should have experience in routine consultations and operations. They should be confident working both in sole charge and as part of a team. They are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, team player who has good communication skills and gets job satisfaction from case continuity and bonding with clients.
