Type of Work: Small Animal Vet Surgeon

Job Details: Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their first opinion 6 Vet team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at their purpose built, award winning veterinary practice, set along the Lancashire coast at an exciting time in its history. The majority of their Vets work a 4 day week and 1 in 5 weekends. However, they encourage a work life balance and would be happy to discuss hours ‘picked by you’ to work round your life and your commitments. The additional bonus is that there is no OOH or on call required in this role. Your time will be split equally between, Clinical time, Consults, Routine and non-routine surgery.

Your role will involve working from a beautiful, light and spacious 12,000 sq foot building that houses separate dental, imaging and chemotherapy suites, surgical and orthopaedic theatres with dedicated cat and dog wards and their very own conference room facilities. They are keen to keep progressing, with tier 2 status approved, hospital status will come later.

This is an exciting time to join their practice as it undergoes huge changes with a new veterinary team and new Clinical Director; you and your colleagues can grow with the practice and have a real input and impact on the practice’s future! The site has so much potential and they are all excited for this new chapter.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have sound first opinion experience in both medicine and surgery; (a surgical bias would be an advantage but not essential), provide an exceptional level of care, have a desire to develop clinical acumen and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

In return, you will be fully supported by their new Clinical Director whose aim is to provide a happy balanced working environment where Vets will be actively encouraged to follow and develop their own cases, progressing their clinical expertise through daily case discussion, participation in clinical meetings, outcome audits and undertaking focused CPD.

In addition, further clinical support will be provided by their internal referral service (based at the practice) in diagnostic imaging and advanced surgery allowing clinicians to retain local control of their cases.

The practice has a well-established reputation in the local area and their caseload is very varied. They see a good mixture of routine but also more advanced cases. They are exclusively a first-opinion small animal practice but welcome those with special interests, or those keen to work towards a Certificate. They are also a Vet Nurse training centre. (If you enjoy mentoring this is a great practice for you!)
