Type of Work: Small Animal Vet Surgeon

Job Details: Our client is has a fantastic opportunity for one, or potentially two, Veterinary Surgeons to join their expanding team, following one of their vets needing to relocate down South to be closer to family.

The practice is on the outskirts of the vibrant, cultural centre of Sheffield as well as being within easy reach of beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park. There are also easy transport links to the rest of the UK and beyond given their central location - via road, rail, plane and even using their extensive tram network. You can be in London in under two hours by train!

Over the last ten years, they have worked hard to build up a loyal client base, and are looking for a positive, happy vet to work alongside their close, friendly team. They are a first opinion, RCVS accredited practice, with 4 experienced vets working to 2.5 FTE, 4 RVNs, and several supporting student VNs. They offer an appointment only service for both vets and nurses, with 15-30 minute appointments, allowing plenty of time for the more complicated cases. They also try to fit in regular tea breaks together whenever possible, such that cake and biscuits are never too far away :-)!
The bright, spacious surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and has state of the art equipment including a dedicated operating theatre, separate cat and dog wards, an in-house laboratory, Doppler ultrasound, digital x-ray and dentistry facilities.

If looking for full-time hours, you will work a 4 day week with the same full weekday off each week, plus a Saturday only rota, and no OOH or in-patient responsibilities at all. They would however also happily welcome part-time applicants wanting any number of hours per week, as many of their staff already work very happily in this way. They even make sure no-one works on their birthday, in addition to your normal holiday allowance!

They offer a supportive working environment together with career development opportunities and an excellent package that includes a competitive salary, contributory pension, paid professional subscriptions and exclusive company discounts and rewards - including 20% off at Pets at Home. They have a generous CPD allowance, and they actively encourage the opportunity to fund and support anyone who's keen to pursue a certificate. An interest in orthopaedic surgery would work well, being able to take on all the current orthopaedic caseload from their parapatetic surgeon, however this most definitely isn't essential!!
