Type of Work: Small Animal Vet Surgeon

Job Details: Our client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team. The role is first opinion small animal vet split between consults and surgery. There is scope for any specialisation.

They welcome full or part time applications and are happy to discuss rotas and working patterns. Currently it is 3.5 days a week with one night on call and one weekend in 5 on call. They are a hospital status practice with modern facilities in a traditional building in an expanding market town on the picturesque Shropshire/Welsh border with easy links into Birmingham and Manchester. They are a mixed practice with a significant farm side, but this role is exclusively small animal. Because of these they see a good proportion of working dogs.

On the companion animal side, they are a first opinion clinic but cover their own out of hours and pride themselves on the service they can offer their clients. They function as a team with good support and encourage professional development. They have all the toys you might expect of a hospital including Digital Xray and MMP orthopaedic kit. The nurses are on site 24/7 and do a fantastic job out of hours taking the phones and helping the on-call vets making on call that significant bit easier.
They have 12 vets, 9 nurses and 2 VCA. They have multiple certificate holders in medicine, surgery, ophthalmology with several of the vets currently training. They would support the candidate and try to integrate any of their interests into their work role. Studying for a certificate would be encouraged. They are active in the local area; their main event is a stand at their local agricultural show, but they also do lots of events to raise funds for their nominated charity: Mental Health Research UK.

This position is replacing an experienced vet so ideally; they would like someone with experience. They are a supportive team and would try to tailor the job to fit a candidate’s strengths
