Job Details: Our client in Tasmania is seeking another recent graduate or experienced vet to add to their team. It is located in a fantastic place to live and has many advantages over living in a major city. The area has fantastic mountain bike tracks, national parks and lakes, golf courses, great scenery and fresh air. For those who prefer the indoors there is a gin distillery, chocolate factory, maritime museum and many more activities. Access to mainland Australia is easy, Tas has their own airport and the Spirit of Tasmania docks here as well.
And now for the opportunity you have been waiting for… this team is looking for a new graduate or experienced vet to join it. The current team includes 5 vets, 11 nurses and 1 receptionist. They all follow their core values, the most important as a team is to be professional but have fun as well. The team support one another and understand that at times your career choice adds some stress to your life. They are committed to their team’s mental wellbeing as well as the physical. Work-life balance is essential, this team ensure you take some time out of your busy day and have a dedicated 1 hour lunchbreak. OOH work is shared amongst the local clinics. This clinic has all the modern facilities including in-house pathology, digital radiography and ultrasonography to mention a few. They have been in their current purpose built facility for 8 years but the clinic has been established for nearly 40 years.
The other advantage of being in Tasmania is that you have limited access to specialists, this means you get the opportunity to develop your skills in both surgery and medicine, with the support of the entire experienced team. The position is full time however part time hours will be considered, and will be paid above award, barring emergencies their aim is always to leave work on time. It includes the usual 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave – which if you do have a special interest they will assist you in finding the most relevant seminars or conferences
A testimonial from a former team member………
"I highly recommend this clinic if you are looking for a job that will give you case autonomy while having support from colleagues. I was very inexperienced when I started here and had lost a lot of confidence. This was completely changed by working here for the past few years. I’ve learnt how to do many new surgeries with wonderful support from both vets and nurses. There is always someone to discuss your case with whether you need another set of eyes on an xray, discuss a medical case, look at cytology or some encouragement while scrubbed into a surgery. Reception does a great job of not overbooking vets. Our clients come from all walks of life and the vast majority are a real pleasure to work with as well."
