Type of Work: Small Animal Locum Vet Surgeon

Job Details: Veterinary Surgeon locum required for a busy practice situated on the Isle of Wight!

This practice is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated veterinary Surgeon to join their team from the  August 2021. The position is full time, working 4 full days 8.30am to 5.30pm plus one half day a week. The rota is shared 1:6 for weekend and weeknight duties. All veterinary surgeons have the opportunity to consult, perform medical work ups & surgeries and spend time on the road with a nurse on different days. They are happy to accommodate specific interests, e.g. some vets perform more surgery and others more consultations, other vets prefer to be out on the road more. The vets work together to decide on where they would like to focus their attention.

They are blessed with lovely clients, and a lovely team. They focus on quality of care rather than quantity. 15 minute consults. CT scanner, laparoscopic surgery, video endoscopy, (training/CPD in all if interested) and loads of support from a very experienced team. They have 7 vets, some part time and some full time. These include an endoscopy and a CertAVP certificate holder. Their team is also comprised of 5 RVNs and several support staff plus a practice manager.

They view their practice as happy, relaxed and welcoming. They all love what they do and feel privileged to be trusted with the care of the Islanders' pets. Their team cares, listens and supports each other working together to help provide the very best of customer care, understanding that they are all emotive beings that need each other’s love and support.

They are a very family orientated practice; ensuring staff get to finish the day on time and have the opportunity to attend parents’ evenings, assemblies, nativity plays, sports days, etc. They have a very strong focus on looking after each other and ensuring a good work : life balance and look after their staff very well. In addition and looking ahead there are significant prospects for the right vet to become a more integral part of the business in a directors role.

The team is a friendly bunch, hoping to form lasting and genuine partnerships with all clients and pets. They endeavour to approach every conversation with openness, warmth and honesty. Doing the right thing is fundamentally important to them – they work hard to keep their training and development up to date and they invest in the best equipment.

The Island offers easy access to London by train. Beautiful coastal scenery, walking, cycling, surfing, sailing, etc. They support local charities and take their wider responsibilities seriously. They recycle everything they can and actively reduce waste and they are proud to be a water refill station. They love our insects too and are a Bee-Friendly practice.

Preferably you will have experience as a veterinary surgeon in clinical practice. They would welcome candidates that are happy to work flexibly in a team environment and who are keen to enhance their skillset with additional CPD, including endoscopic surgery and advanced diagnostic imaging such as CT scans and ultrasound.
