Type of Work:  Registered Veterinary Nurse

Job Details:

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Surgical registered veterinary nurse to join their friendly, supportive team in Northumberland.  As part of the surgery team, you will offer direct support to experienced referral clinicians, working in small teams to ensure all surgical patients receive the highest possible standards of care. You will have the opportunity to see a diverse caseload in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgeries, as well as some neurological cases. They are committed to supporting your special interests and empowering you to build your clinical skills within a nurturing environment, and with this in mind they would be open to accommodating a position solely within either soft tissue or orthopaedics, or a combination of the two. Your responsibilities as a Surgical RVN will involve assisting with diagnostic imaging in CT and MRI, preparing/sterilising equipment and operating theatres, preparing patients for surgery, assisting throughout surgical procedures and recovering patients post-op.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours over 5 days, and 1:6 weekends with TOIL. Condensed hours over a 4 day week will also be considered. There are no compulsory night shifts or on-call, but their nurses can pick up optional night shifts to cover annual leave if they wish which will be reflected in your annual salary, or further optional weekend shifts which are paid as overtime.

The hospital has been purpose-built to industry leading standards and features state-of-the-art facilities including four theatres  a CT scanner, multiple ultrasound machines, video flexible and ridged endoscopy/laparoscopy/thoracoscopy/arthroscopy, and an MRI scanner. They offer referral services in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, ECC and cardiology, enabling you to utilise your nursing skills to your full potential working with an interesting, diverse caseload.

Applicant Requirements

They are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic nurse to join their amazing team. Referral experience, although desirable, is not essential as their successful applicant will receive 8 weeks of supported, structured training throughout the hospital. With this in mind, they will welcome applications from ambitious, motivated RVNs from both referral and first opinion backgrounds.
