Type of Work: Small Animal Vet Surgeon
Job Details: Our client is looking for a veterinary surgeon to join their friendly and established team! The practice has grown steadily since its opening and they are excited to be celebrating their 8th birthday this year!
They see a real variety of cases with a ratio of approx. 60:40 dogs to cats. They perform lots of orthopaedic procedures in-house including patella luxation, fracture repairs, cruciate surgeries with TPLO and they also carry out a wide variety of soft tissue surgery such as soft palate resections, tumour removals and abdominal surgery.
They work in a lovely, purpose built practice with state of the art equipment including digital X-ray, flexible and rigid endoscopes and easy access to a 16 slice CT scanner. Because they benefit from a fully equipped endoscopy suite, they encourage the use of minimally invasive procedures like otoendoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of ear disease, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy for BAL, gastroendoscopy and colonoscopy, lap assisted biopsies, enterotomy, cystotomy and ovariectomy.
You will be joining a supportive team of 4 vets, 6 registered veterinary nurses, 2 student nurses 4 receptionists, 1 client account manager and 1 practice manager. They hold a variety of individual interests within the team including orthopaedics and diagnostic imaging. They offer a generous CPD allowance and are happy to support the sponsorship of certificates or further studies for the right candidate.
You will be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases and enjoy seeing cases through from start to finish, whilst building strong, lasting relationships with patients and clients. An interest in orthopaedics would be an advantage but not essential! Clinical support is provided at all times and candidates with surgical inclinations will certainly get hands on support/experience in their operating theatre! One member of their talented vet team is currently enrolled on a post-graduate certificate in surgery, another is going through the Vets4Pets Graduate Programme. They both very much enjoy working at their busy practice and learning new things on daily basis.
Rota: Full Time is ideal but part time can be considered, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). There is no OOH responsibility with this role however you will be comfortable with some sole charge at the weekends and occasional mid-week shifts.
