Type of Work: Companion Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Open to New Graduates

Job Details: This clinic is located in the northeast of Gisborne city, and has been part of the community for many years. They are a companion animal practice with a great team of Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses who are passionate about their furry clients, dedicated to providing them with the best possible care. As a qualified Veterinarian you already have a pretty good idea as to the day-to-day requirements of being a great member of the dynamic team behind any great clinic. Here are just a few of the key responsibilities that you will be contributing to together with the rest of the team:

  • Client consultations
  • Hands-on small animal surgery & diagnostics
  • Working collaboratively with your colleagues on patient cases

This role will be full time, with some after-hours required. The team is currently 2 vets & 5 support staff, and they are seeking two additional vets and at least one more nurse due to expansion. The roster is Monday to Friday plus every 3rd or 4th Saturday (only 9am - 12pm). The clinic does week on, week off for after hours as they share with another clinic in the area. That means at least one night of being on-call per fortnight and an on-call weekend every 6 - 8 weeks. It’s a 50/50 mix of surgery and consults, normal stuff for a CA clinic. The vets schedules alternate so you get a share of both. This is an excellent clinic with full in-house labratory, digital xray, ultrasound, etc etc!

The ideal candidate will;

  • Genuinely care for pets, your colleagues and clients
  • Work well both in a team and independently
  • High level of integrity and are interested in continued development
  • Good communicator
  • Relevant Veterinarian qualification/s
  • Experience preferred but new grads welcome to apply
